Benjamin Davis

Brazilian Zouk

Hailing from Santa Fe, NM, Benjamin has always been passionate about movement and the martial arts. His journey began with Aikido, which he practiced from ages 8 to 16, before transitioning to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which he has been training in for the past six years. Three years ago, he discovered a love for dance, starting with Salsa and Bachata before quickly finding his true passion in Zouk after an inspiring class with the legendary Jaime Arôxa. He continues to train semi-regularly under Ry'el of Lambarado Springs Dance Studios in Colorado Springs, furthering his knowledge of both Zouk as well as more traditional Lambada, the parent dance of Zouk. His dedication to growth has also led him to travel for his education, attending Zouk congresses around the world to expand his understanding and refine his skills.

Benjamin is the founder of The Hut, a community-driven space that began as a spontaneous Jiu-Jitsu session in his parents’ garage with his best friends, Floyd and Yakima. What started as a simple idea has evolved into a thriving space dedicated to community, connection, and artistic growth. At The Hut, the focus is on fostering a community of teachers and practitioners who prioritize their craft over ego, creating an environment where community and the love of art come first.
